She goes against the odds to assist that friend. She decides it's right, to assist a friend who called upon her. Mermaidia, puts power and deep understanding into a female lead character. Any parent concerned with such things would appreciate Mermadia, and it's prior Fairytopia, and unrelated, The Magic of Pegasus, and the brunette heroine in Princess and the Pauper. I appreciate, as the Barbie movies have moved along since 2001, that a vast array of hair color, skin color, and eye color, and further are incorporated. The lead character, in Mermaidia, is a thinker, decisive, devoted to a friend and doing what's right. I have admired the strong heroine projected through the films, and have watched them with her, and discussed the epitomy of friendship. My three and a half old daughter owns the entire Barbie DVD collection. ![]() However, if you did see Fairytopia, you might be more engulfed in the trials Alina goes through. You don't have to see Fairytopia to enjoy Mermaidia. Mermadia opens with a very brief introduction of Alina, and ties in directly to the movie. One doesn't have to own or see Fairytopia to enjoy Mermadia, which makes Mermadia a sequel one can own and see on their own to appreciate. ![]() Since the Barbie movies were released in 2001 with Barbie in The Nutcracker, to Barbie as Rapunzel, to Barbie of Swan Lake (all priors with a spin on existing stories), Magic of Pegasus, Barbie Fairytopia as the first movie with Mermadia being the sequel, Mermaidia holds a unique storyline while still centering on the famous Fairy, Alina, a true brave heroine. ![]() Latest Release is Great!
